A free-of charge, evidence-based program designed to reduce the fear of falling and improve activity levels among older adults. The program includes eight two-hour classes and teaches participants to view falls as controllable. During the program, participants set goals for increasing their activity levels, for making small changes to reduce fall risks at home, and for exercise to increase strength and balance.
The curriculum includes group discussions, mutual problem solving, role-play activities, exercise training, assertiveness training, and a few homework assignments.
The program is taught by Dignity Health staff. Advent is fortunate to be able to provide the space, publicity for the class, and follow-up with participants.
Location: Fellowship Hall
